The Two Faces of Sakaria Romaccio/ Welcome 2012

Hello everyone! I figured that I'd bring 2011 to a close with a new picture!

When Sakia was left behind on Earth, she was forced to use a mixture to temporarily alter some of her DNA so that she could appear human. Not that she minded, though, considering that she likes the humans more than her own race, the Qi.

Now, time for my commemoration of this year which is about to pass!

It is hard to believe that 2011 is almost over already, with less than an hour to go! It seems to me that it was just yesterday that I was watching 2010: The Year We Made Contact to celebrate the title year, and that was two years ago, nonetheless! But, all in all, 2011 has been a fairly productive year for me; I have learned cartooning, let alone how to use the basics of Gimp, I have done plenty of reading and writing, and I have shared some marvelous memories with my friends and family. And I look forward to doing all of this the coming year, and more!

So, without further ado, I give you my informal list of New Year's Resolutions and ambitions:

1.) Attempt to get one of my works published. Yes people, I don't just sit here and type blog entries all day (though I must say, I do my share of that); I actually have enough to patience to commit myself to other projects!

2.) Manage my stress better - don't we all want to do that?

3.) Be a nicer person. Yes, believe it or not, I do have my flaws!

4.) Work some more on my cartooning and animations.

5.) I'll think of something later, I'm sure!

So, I now bring this fairly succinct and non-eloquent blog post to a close, as well as this year. I wish you all a happy and successful 2012!

"If You Saw Me..."

Just a little something that I made. :)

Yixillian thinking to herself what the person she cared the most about would do if they saw her somewhere else, say, on another planet. I know, it's sort of a stupid concept when I phrase it like that, but, whatever...

Sandrin Prentice Model Edit

I wasn't very pleased with Sandrin's model, so I went back and changed it. So... yeah.

New model.

Old model.

Oh, and new poster! :)

Sakia: Shadow Arsonist

Hi everyone! First off, Happy Festivus! I'm afraid that I haven't had the time to compile my Airing of Grievances, though...

Anyways, here is my latest composition! To prevent any confusion, allow me to explain. I may or may not have mentioned in the past that Sakia's race, the Qi, have the ability to transfer their consciousness back and forth from their shadows and physical bodies at will, so that, in the case that their bodies are mortally wounded, they may permanently seek residence inside of their shadow forms. Apparently, they can use these shadows of theirs for other purposes as well, though I have yet to devise them.

So, yeah, Sakia's showing off her shadow abilities. :)

I apologize for my bad blending with the shadows; I was rather tired, and didn't feel like expending any more energy than I had to. ;)

A song that I associate with this particular picture (not because of the lyrics, mainly just the feeling that it gives me).

Again, Happy Festivus everyone, and Happy Holidays!!!

New Sakia Picture

Hi everyone! Just a new picture of Sakia that I'm rather fond of. I tried a new style of shading which is a little less harsh than the way that I usually do it, so... yeah.

London Blitz Painting

Hi everyone! I'm baaaaaack! And with a new artistic media (no, it has not replaced cartooning; this is merely a one-time thing)!

I have never been very good with painting, but then again, I've never really tried. However, I was willing to make an exception this time. I had a really neat dream about the London Blitz a week ago, except with a little bit more steampunk than in actuality. ;) So, I wanted a way to communicate the feelings that this dream had given me, and I took a couple hours to paint it today. I'm rather pleased with the result, but would never go as far as to say that it is exceptional; I am certainly no da Vinci!

So, without further ado, London Blitz! :)

The colors look different between the two pictures because they were taken with two different cameras.

I have also attached some videos from YouTube of a couple songs which go with the feeling of my dream/painting, in my opinion at least.

"Contention City"
Calexico

"Like Spinning Plates (Live)"

"Clockwork Anatomy"

Just something I did once for a project; creating a band name (Clockwork Anatomy) and an album name ("Creepy Physics"), then making a cover for the imagined album. So, yeah, here it is.

I, of course, found the background image from a website and integrated it into my composition, but I am too lazy to site the source at present.

Also, I must mention a correction to QiMIGA's ID which I have previously posted; I stated that she had a severe inferiority complex. That is incorrect. I really ment superiority complex.

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

No! Harry Morgan died today! Most of you probably don't know who he is, so for all of you who are not familiar with the show M*A*S*H, he played Colonel Sherman T. Potter. Now I recommend that you go out and watch all eleven seasons; it's an excellent show! May you rest in peace, Harry Morgan! :(

A tribute someone made of Colonel Potter's best insults... yeah...

"All I Need"-Yixillian

Hey everyone! Just a little traditional project I did, matching a scene to lyrics from a song, in this case, "All I Need" by Radiohead. I have done this before with several characters for my own enjoyment, but have yet to post them on this blog. Anyways, for now, my most recent appendage.

Yixillian's second, more often suppressed personality finds herself mortified with the heinous actions of her dominant, psychopathic manifestation, and feels that she is an unworthy and despicable creature. Thus, the Frankenstein quote was added for emphasis. If you cannot read it clearly, it says: "All men hate the wretched; how then, must I be hated, who am miserable beyond all living things". The lyrical excerpt reads: "...I'm just an insect, Trying to get out of the dark..."

"All I Need" by Radiohead
(In my opinion, one of the most beautiful songs ever made)

Before I conclude this post, I'd like to quickly apologize for posting so many of my cartoons; I'll try to make a post about something different next time. So, please, bear with me. :)

Merry (Early) X-Mas!

Merry (Early) Christmas everyone, from myself and the crew of the Pandora 42!

Sorry that this is a little premature; let's just say that I got into the spirit. ;)

Captain Adeline Marzk

Yay, new character! As you have probably guessed from the title of this blog entry, her name is Captain Adeline Marzk.

BFF DAY

If only it was BFF Day! Too bad it's not till June 8th...

Valentina explains to Sakia the magic of National Best Friends Forever Day. Sakia is more dismayed about the excessive amounts of pink than anything...

Renfield from Dracula (1931)

My most recent obssession (by the way, "Doctor Who" hasn't been replaced in the slightest, it will always have a place in my science fiction, television-crazed heart), Tod Browning's version of Dracula, starring Bela Lugosi, and the novel by Bram Stoker (I'm still in the process of reading it, though) have been consuming my thoughts lately. While watching the film, I found Dwight Frye's interpration of Renfield fascinating, and he is currently my favorite (though I have not yet encountered his character in the novel), and his performance was spectacular. I find myself muttering insane quotations of him under my breath without being consciously aware of it (yes, I am a little concerned), but then again, I've watched the film three and a half times over the span of the past 3 days or so. Anyways, I took this image of him, and after some editing on Gimp made this:

By the way, I highly recommend the film, especially while listening to the version with Philip Glass' score.

Character Spotlight: Yixillian Mare

This is my latest character, Yixillian. You may remember a crappy Invader Zim fan character of the same name, which she is based upon.

Same ID, different picture. If you read it, it will make sense.

A little poster I made.

Yixillian in her assassin's uniform. You can compare her to the Invader Zim fan character I made of the same name. Yixillian

Sakia the Defender Character ID's

Salutations everyone (I felt like be fancy for a moment)! In my last post, I introduced my original cartoon characters. Now, in this post, I shall post their ID's in case you're curious. Remember, these are all copyrighted, no stealing, etcetera, etcetera... yeah, you get the point. Anyways, enjoy!

Oh, and I apologize for any gramatical errors, I didn't really edit these very thoroughly...

First and foremost, Sakia, the protagonist.

QiMIGA

Sox

Valentina

Francesca

Isaldia

Sandrin

Simona

Takir

I have more characters, I just haven't gotten around to constructing ID's for them yet. I'll probably post new ones as I make them.

Oh, and the symbols in the top right corners are called "Universal Signatures". The backstory is that these are signatures created by a person at a certain age that can be used anywhere in the Universe (they are saved to a massive shared database). Since they are only symbols indiginous to that particular person, they don't have to be translated into any other languages.

Anyways, hope y'all liked them! :)

My Original Cartoons

Sakia the Defender and these characters/images belong to me, and have been copyrighted. Any unauthorized use of these images is forbidden. If you would like to use any of these images, please contact me by posting a comment in this thread, and I will post a follow-up comment. Thank you for understanding.

A poster I made with some of my characters.

All right, I got bored, so I made my own little alien character (the one in the middle of the poster) a few months ago. She may look a little bit like a weird Irken because of the eyes, but she isn't.

First ever sketch.

First computer sketch. (stick around, they get better, at least in my opinion)

Another early sketch; the second one to be exact.

Second computer sketch. Okay, so this picture turned out a little bit less proportionate than the first one, but since then, I have changed her head so that it is a little round, like this picture; it's just easier to draw.

My favorite picture of her yet! The line art turned out super clean, the coloring and shading, if I do say so myself, is wonderful (I have changed my methods of coloring since the first two computer pictures of her, and now use separate layers), and the pose totally suits her (though, I must say that it does resemble Zim's pose in this picture [which I didn't make]). I sort of ditched the hood for this picture, and maybe I'll just do away with it completely. And yes, Sakia is her name; you steal and no soup for you! But, really, stealing isn't cool.

Sakia in her huuuuuuummmaaaaaaan form. Yeah, I only changed up the colors a little bit.

Another human form picture, though it didn't turn out great. Oh well, that's what practice is for.

A montage of some of my characters. Yay, I have a scanner now! (I posted these images out of order, which is why some of them were taken with my iPod and are blurry).

Another montage (for a larger view, please click on it).

From left to right: Sakia, Isaldia, Sandrin, QiMIGA, Valentina, Sox, Simona, and Francesca.

Ha ha ha...

Sakia as a teenager.

Sakia when she was a kid.

Epic pose. The right eye is lobsided, though. I fixed it, but haven't gotten around to re-scanning it.

Another epic pose.

Computer drawn.

Same picture, different lighting, and with a title and my signature (hint: look in the top left corner).

Another recycled pose.

Different outfits of Sakia.

Some facial expressions (sorry if they're hard to see).

My first sketch of Sox, another, slightly eccentric character. She wants a hug! XD

Mitania (yet another character), with her steampunk backpack wings, which I stole from this character of mine, saving Sakia from falling to her death.  Mitania's hair looks a little bit like the hair of this "Invader Zim" character (the one in the back behind Zim, that is).

My first picture of QiMIGA (her name is an acronym). Her face is shaped a little different now, as you can observe in this next picture. I really dislike this picture... XD

QiMIGA giving Sakia the death stare (they kind of don't get along). Oh, and she's an android (which is why her eyes are red; they're LED lights).

And the original sketch.

Sakia's older sister, Simona, with whom she does not get along.

Sketch.

Me as a Qi (the name of the alien race).

Valentina, who is, if you haven't already guessed, a huuuman. Oh, and her outfit sort of looks like that of Kes from "Star Trek: Voyager". I suppose that her personality does resemble Kes' a little as well.

Another character, Takir, who is almost the only male character of mine.
