Hey everybody! As some of you may or may not know, I am obssessed with this show called "Invader Zim". So, I decided to make my own spinoff of it, "Invader Zero", featuring my Invader Zim OC, (three guesses), Zero (yes, that is also my web name and my "9" OC). So, yeah. For all of my criticisms, see the huge essay that I wrote below the video! Enjoy!
Criticisms: Okay, so this is my first animation video over about 2 minutes long. I know that it is SUPER crappy, the animation is terrible, the voice acting isn't that great, the motions are very simple, and the plot is weak. But, like I said, this is my first video about the length of a regular cartoon canon episode. And despite its numerous flaws, I'm actually quite proud of it, especially my audio syncing, and my end and opening credits. But, now for the fun part: the criticisms.
First of all, there was at least one scene where Zero did not have her PAK on. To all of my fellow Invader Zim fans out there, you understand how big of a flaw that this is. To all of you who have never watched Invader Zim, Irkens (the name of the alien race) cannot survive more than 10 minutes without their PAK. Their PAK is basically their life support system, and it stores practically their entire essence is built into it. If they go more than 10 minutes without their PAK, they die. The other scenes where the PAK isn't visible, however, were intentional, since those scenes were, for the most part, front on views, and I either didn't believe that the PAK would be visible from that perspective, or I was just too lazy to put it in.
Second criticism. I CANNOT SING!!! If you watched the video (or have ever heard me sing prior to that), you will understand what I mean! Sorry if your ears are bleeding now, folks!
Another point. My plot was really, really, really simple. But, that's how I wanted it to be. My character, Zero, is supposed to eventually develop a love for the human race (as Jhonen Vasquez said in an interview that he might have wanted to do with Zim had the series continued). So, I figured, how about I kick this love off with music! Music is such a diverse and unique thing, and it brings out the creativity and beauty in human beings when utilized or portrayed correctly.
Also, as I mentioned before, the motions aren't complicated at all. This is because I am new to animation, or I was too lazy to erase and re-draw so much for every new slide, etcetera, etcetera.
Lastly, I know that the directing and transitions from scene to scene weren't that great. Trust me, it turned out a lot better in my mind. I certainly am not any Stanely Kubrick here (if you don't know who he is, he is pretty much one of the most artistic and highly acclaimed directors ever, and was a huge perfectionist, and you should definitely watch 2001: A Space Odyssey). But, hey, I can try.
Whether or not I will continue this series, I do not know. I already have a pretty epic idea in my mind, but, we'll see.
Keep in mind folks, this was purely for my entertainment!!!
-Zero
P.S: I have noticed that people on other sites have come up with characters also named Invader Zero. I just wanted to state that this character that I have created is not connected to these characters in pretty much any other way aside from the fact that they are Invader Zim OC's (Original Characters).
